DIG Meetings

March’s General Meeting Topic:  (March 25th)

How to Buy REO’s Through Realtors and How to Make a Fortune Buying Notes

The first two meetings of 2010 the speakers committee showcased local talent that were DIG members. We plan to continue that theme throughout the year by bringing you fellow members who took the knowledge gained from attending our meetings and became successful in a variety of real estate related fields. That theme continues this month with two more members presenting a half a meeting each on the topics below. We hope these fellow members who have been successful in real estate, will inspire you to achieve your goals through real estate investing.

Jeff Bryan is a full time real estate investor who invests in residential rehabs and either flips or holds for his own portfolio. He graduated from Penn State University and holds a MBA from Drexel University where they didn’t teach him about real estate or how to start and run your own business. Jeff’s first deal was a very rare foreclosure in his own neighborhood. He did very well and then proceeded to lose it all on his next two deals. He then got smart, joined DIG, and is a graduate of DIG 101. He looks forward to continuing to build his portfolio, pay for his daughter’s college education, and a long and comfortable semi-retirement.

Dave Van Horn has been a licensed Realtor in Pennsylvania for over 20 years and specializes in investment Real Estate. He graduated from West Chester University with a degree in Business Management. He is a partner in a title insurance company, a manufactured housing investment company and invests in new commercial and residential developments. Several years ago Dave started investing in private residential real estate notes by lending fellow rehabbers from his self directed IRA. He is married with two adult sons and resides in suburban Philadelphia.

What members say:

“I was a new member 3 years ago. I have over 17 investment properties now. All because of DIG and DIGs discount for Sherwin Williams paint. The savings for one rehab will itself be more than what it cost to join.

DIG is the best bang for money. Join subgroups.”

Real Estate Authors Discussion (READ) for Profit Program

DIG is fortunate to have a few members who have written books on Real Estate. The DIG Board thought it would be a great idea to take advantage of this terrific local knowledge. The authors, Marc Sherby, Marc Halpern and Don Beck, were contacted to see if they would be interested in hosting a READ for Profit program featuring their books. All thought it was a great idea and have agreed to moderate the sessions on their books.

This new “READ” for Profit Program starts in February and will be held from 5:45 to 6:30 PM each month (same time as the Toolkit) before the monthly membership meetings. Members will have the opportunity to purchase the author’s book for $25 at all DIG meetings. Dates for each session will be noted in the newsletter. This will give everyone plenty of time to read the book and write down questions and comment.
