Your help needed to counter anti-landlord activists

It seems, thanks to fellow DIG members and the Pottstown Mercury, the borough is starting to rethink how they write these new ordinances. I was hoping some more people would reply, but it is in the past. Pottstown investors need some help once again. There is a small group of activist running 2 blogs. Code Blue, and Save Pottstown. I need to ask you to read the following quote, go on to their sites and speak your feelings. I find them discriminatory and offending, and we need to stand against them. I believe it is due to their lobbying at Boro hall that this ordinance started in the 1st place. Go to www.pottsmerc.com and read the posts by DaisyBeGreen on the 2 threads on July 6th and July 9th concerning landlords and these ordinances. She is one of the instigators involved. We need to show power in numbers to let them know we will not allow this slander to continue. Please google code blue pottstown, then link to the save pottstown site and post how offensive you find them. If we can get the people of Pottstown to stop reading their blogs, we can diffuse their offensive tactics to turn homeowners against landlords. Please help!!

Note: You don’t  need to be from Pottstown to post your comments. This kind of legislation creeps from place to place to eventually affect us all.  We should all be posting to get the other side heard from.

Doug,

I am a little confused at your post. At the Boro Council meeting you and your Wife spoke in support of Code Blue’s position that better enforcement of existing ordinances was needed and that any new ordinances would be a waste if they were not enforced. Code Blue’s position is that good landlords are needed and welcome. We don’t want the landlords who don’t pay their taxes/water/sewer and don’t take care of their properties. We don’t like bad tenants either and wish that there was an easier way to evict them. We are not just against ALL landlords…please understand this.

Doug, I think people are only trying to improve their neighborhood. The only landlords that should worry are those who leave their properties go bad. I saw this article in the Reading Eagle, so it’s not just Pottstown. http://readingeagle.com/article.aspx?id=238445
